Accelerated Resolution Therapy Intensives

Accelerated Resolution Therapy intensives offer a promising avenue for individuals seeking rapid relief from psychological distress. By condensing therapy into a focused timeframe, clients can experience significant improvements in a matter of days. Supported by empirical research, ART intensives stand as a testament to the evolving landscape of mental health treatment, emphasizing efficiency, efficacy, and client-centered care. Intensives are focused on processing the entirety of a singular event of trauma memory in one appointment. These sessions are offered at a self-pay rate of $200 per hour with a minimum of 2 hours per intensive.

Why Choose an Intensive Instead of Weekly Therapy?

Extended Time for Deeper Work
Intensive sessions last several hours, giving us the time and space to fully focus on the issues you want to address. Rather than stopping just as you’re getting into important material, intensives allow for deeper exploration and the potential for meaningful progress in a shorter period of time.

Personalized to Your Needs
Every intensive is designed specifically for you. Together, we focus on your goals, your history, and the areas where you want relief or change, creating a therapy experience that is thoughtful, individualized, and intentional.

Integrative, Comprehensive Support
Intensives allow us to incorporate multiple therapeutic approaches in one focused experience. Depending on your needs, this may include methods such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Internal Family Systems (IFS), helping address concerns from different angles and support meaningful healing.

Freedom from Insurance Limitations
Because intensives are not covered by insurance, our work is not restricted by insurance requirements such as specific diagnoses, session limits, or strict time constraints. This allows us to focus fully on what is most helpful for you, using the approaches and pace that best support your healing rather than what insurance policies require.

Flexible Scheduling — No Waitlist
Unlike traditional therapy models that may involve long waitlists, intensives can often be scheduled more quickly. During your consultation, we can compare schedules and find a time that works for you, helping you begin the process sooner rather than later.

For many people, intensives provide a focused, supportive environment to work through challenges and move toward relief without the slower pace of weekly therapy.

What to Expect

Start with a brief consultation.
The first step is a complimentary 15-minute consultation by phone or video—whichever feels easiest for you. During this time, we’ll talk about what’s bringing you into intensive therapy and what you hope to gain from our work together. You might share the kinds of symptoms or experiences you’d like support with, such as anxiety, trauma, or phobias, as well as any past experiences you’ve had with therapy. I’ll also explain how I work and how ART may help. Most importantly, this is a chance for you to ask questions and get a feel for whether this approach feels like the right fit for you.

Preparing for your intensive session.
If you decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your intensive appointment (2 hour minimum). Before the session, you’ll receive intake forms through my secure online portal (TherapyPortal). These include consent forms, HIPAA information, and a few background questions so I can better understand your history and goals. Completing these at least 48 hours before your session allows us to make the most of our time together.

The day of your appointment.
Your session will take place in person at my Tumwater office. Because intensives are scheduled on weekends, the building door will be locked; I’ll greet you and let you in about five minutes before your appointment begins. I encourage you to dress comfortably—intensive therapy can bring up a range of emotions, and feeling physically comfortable can help you stay grounded. Water, coffee, and tea will be available to help you settle in.

During the session.
We’ll begin by talking through your goals and making sure I fully understand what you’d like to focus on. You’ll have space to share anything that feels important before we begin the ART process. Throughout the session, we’ll move at a pace that feels manageable for you, with breaks whenever needed. The goal is to create a supportive, focused space where meaningful healing work can happen.

After the session.
Toward the end of our time together, we’ll check in about how you’re feeling and talk about next steps. Some clients choose to schedule another session right away, while others prefer to take some time to notice how they feel in the days or weeks following the intensive. If it’s helpful, I’m also happy to follow up with you—by phone or email—in the days after your session and again a couple of weeks later to see how the processing is sitting in your mind and body.
